Construction Update !

jan2013We have completed the cement work on our “extra heavy duty” floor. Final slab was poured 12-31-12 ! The floor is designed to hold increased sized and weight equipment as we expand our machining capabilities. Concrete in the floor  is 12” + in thickness with two 5/8 mats of re-rod. The next three steps to be completed will be:

  1. Painting and fire suppression system in January.
  2. Electrical and permanent lighting in February,
  3. Be able to move some equipment into the new space in March 2013.

September 2012 – Winegar, Inc is Expanding!

Pictured above is the progress being made on a new addition to the east side of the facility. The 20,000 square foot addition will enable Winegar to structure machining operations in a more “lean” configuration, as well as allow for more cellular operations with today’s larger machining centers. The addition will increase total square footage to over 120,000 square feet and enhance machining capacity and efficiency of future operations.

August 2012 – Green Belt Certification

sixsigma_logoPreviously we completed companywide lean 101 training, touched on some Kaizen projects, and used problem solving techniques in our journey of continuous process and quality improvement.

During the month of August 2012 Winegar, Inc. started a new chapter in its lean journey. Three members of the Winegar Team began their training program for Green Belt Certification. With classroom training completed they are now in the project phase of the certification program. We look forward to seeing the results of these first three projects later this fall and winter.

June 2012 – Always Improving Quality!

qualityIn our efforts toward Continuous Quality Improvement we have implemented electronic Statistical Process Control (SPC) and In-process Inspection Spreadsheets to the shop floor. These processes were previously calculated and charted manually by our machine operators. By the addition of wireless networked computers with SPC software we now have the capability to collect SPC and Inspection data that is stored directly to our network in real time. We are also initiating the utilization of  wireless gaging that captures measurements directly to the SPC software and in process inspection by the push of a button.
