Just in – On November 21st we finished installation of our new Toyoda Select G 100II cylindrical Grinder with Marposs Dual gauge heads for efficiency while holding consistent accuracy on tight tolerances.
We can now Grind parts up to 36 inches long , and up to nearly 12 inches in Diameter!
On May 23rd,2014 our NEW DMG-MORI SIEKI NVX7000 arrived. It began its first production work on June 9th.
This machine gives us a 24” X 60” work envelope with probing capabilities!
The first new machine in the 2013 addition is up and running. The 16 pallet Toyoda 630 MM Horizontal machining center is up and running it first parts.
We are participating in the South Central Tour of Manufacturing on October 26th with tours being given from 9:AM to 3:00 PM (Learn More)
With the addition completed, we decided to improve our employee parking area with a new 30,000 square foot paved parking area. The project should be completed by October 20th, 2013.
Congratulations to Paul Goettl, Director of Manufacturing and Jeff Sampson, Purchasing and Customer Service Department have both received their Six Sigma Green Belt certification after attending
Training provided through the International Quality Institute.
We have completed the cement work on our “extra heavy duty” floor. Final slab was poured 12-31-12 ! The floor is designed to hold increased sized and weight equipment as we expand our machining capabilities. Concrete in the floor is 12” + in thickness with two 5/8 mats of re-rod. The next three steps to be completed will be:
- Painting and fire suppression system in January.
- Electrical and permanent lighting in February,
- Be able to move some equipment into the new space in March 2013.
Pictured above is the progress being made on a new addition to the east side of the facility. The 20,000 square foot addition will enable Winegar to structure machining operations in a more “lean” configuration, as well as allow for more cellular operations with today’s larger machining centers. The addition will increase total square footage to over 120,000 square feet and enhance machining capacity and efficiency of future operations.
Previously we completed companywide lean 101 training, touched on some Kaizen projects, and used problem solving techniques in our journey of continuous process and quality improvement.
During the month of August 2012 Winegar, Inc. started a new chapter in its lean journey. Three members of the Winegar Team began their training program for Green Belt Certification. With classroom training completed they are now in the project phase of the certification program. We look forward to seeing the results of these first three projects later this fall and winter.
In our efforts toward Continuous Quality Improvement we have implemented electronic Statistical Process Control (SPC) and In-process Inspection Spreadsheets to the shop floor. These processes were previously calculated and charted manually by our machine operators. By the addition of wireless networked computers with SPC software we now have the capability to collect SPC and Inspection data that is stored directly to our network in real time. We are also initiating the utilization of wireless gaging that captures measurements directly to the SPC software and in process inspection by the push of a button.
